FROM THE WORD: Be sure

-A A +A
By C.L. Glasscock

1 John 3:7-9 “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.”

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”

1 John 3:22-24 “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”

In my ministry through the years, I have heard a lot of messages from different preachers and different dominations.

A lot of them was preached in the fear of God and a lot was preached in the fear of some in the congregation.

What John was preaching here was in the fear of God.

The whole book of 1 John comes straight at us. John tells us there is no in between, as the old saying is, you cannot straddle the fence and make it to Heaven. But if we do what John tells us to do,  this is the only way we can go to heaven and be with God.

Just look at 1 John 1:8-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

So always remember when the books are opened on judgement day, everything we did good or bad will show up because we cannot fool God. So let’s all be sure when the Book of Life is opened ,our name is written in it and Jesus will say well done good and faithful servant, come on in.
