FROM THE WORD: Broad is the way to destruction

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Luke 13:24-28 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

In writing this scripture, it brought back memories of one time I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me, “ I know when I get up there I am going to have a lot of explaining to do.” Another told me if I was behind him I would have a long wait.

Both could not be further from wrong because as we look at the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, there will be no time spent on anyone come judgement day. And you know what, in reading the Bible I have never read anything about enlarging heaven to hold everyone. But if we look at Isaiah 7 we will see hell had to be enlarged to hold all the people who drink strong drink.

Isaiah 5:11-14 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands. Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

When I grew up about the only thing I heard the Bible said was eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may die. But this quote came from some who did not know anything about the Bible. As we look at Isaiah 5:11-14, we could say if you want to go the hell this is what you do.
