FROM THE WORD: Putting on the full armor of God

I have heard a lot of people say, I have been too mean - God won’t forgive a person like me, or you don’t know about all of the bad things I have done, or if I accept Jesus as my Saviour I don’t know if I could stop doing the things I do today, I know I couldn’t give up drinking or smoking or the other bad things in my life. If things like this are running through your mind, the only place they are coming from is the devil. He is the author of lying and confusion. If I had believed God didn’t love me because I did all the bad things in this world, I would have never accepted Christ as my personal Saviour because I did them all.

Romans 5:8-9 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

If we believe these verses are true and call upon the Lord and ask him to come into our heart and save us he will do just that. I had an uncle who smoked over two cartons of cigarettes and drank a case of whiskey a week and he invited Christ into his heart. Christ came in and cleansed him.

He did not only quit drinking and smoking, he started being a great witness for Jesus Christ by visiting jails and prisons and telling everyone about Jesus Christ in his life. Until the non-Christians or Christians wake up and realize we are in a spiritual warfare here on earth and realize the only way we can defeat the devil is through the blood of Jesus Christ and apply it to our heart and walk daily with him, if we don’t we will loose the battle to the devil.

Look at Ephesians 6:10-13 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

As we read Ephesians 6:10-13 we see how powerful the devil is and what we have to do to defeat him. It is very simple, put on the whole armour of God through prayer, reading our Bible and doing what it says and by always remembering how conniving the devil is. Look at the first sin upon the earth, we see Eve the first woman listening to the devil.

Genesis 3:2-4 – And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

And let’s let this be a great lesson to us, if we listen to the devil instead of God we will die, go to hell and burn forever. So let’s put on the whole armour of God and listen
