Romans 8:24-31 “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Now look at Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
As we look at 8:24 it says we are saved by hope but hope that is seen is not hope.
Look at John Chapter 20, we see some of the disciples telling one of the disciples named Thomas about seeing Jesus after he was raised from the dead. Thomas told them except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side I will not believe. After eight days Jesus showed up, this time Thomas was with the other disciples. Jesus told Thomas, reach hither thy finger and behold my hands and reach hither thy hand and thrust it into my side and be not faithless but believing.
John 20:28-29 “And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
Back to Romans 8:24, so many people that are in churches today live on hope and not faith. I have heard this statement many times, “Well I hope so.”
One question, Are you like Thomas, can you only believe in what you see? This chapter plainly tells us if we only trust God he will take us to greater heights in our spiritual life. Some I have heard say, ‘I can’t pray in public.’”
Trust God, He can! When we say we can’t do this or that remember Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
