IN THE WORD: Trusting in God

-A A +A

John 4:23-24 – “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

As we look at what Jesus is telling us in these two verses, we see that we are to let the Holy Spirit take over our prayer life and our worship services. If we do not, we will get very little good out of either one.

I have heard people say that this is how we are praying, we are going to pray that God will deliver the way we want him to. The amazing thing is that God already knows our needs before we ask him. So why not let him handle it his way and pray within the Holy Spirit?

In Matthew 26:41 Jesus tells us, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Romans 8:26-28 – Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

As we read these scriptures, it is very easy to understand what we need to do to have a great prayer

life and a great worship service. All we have to do is let the Holy Spirit take over our life and pray in the Spirit and worship in the Spirit. But some of us are afraid to do this. Until we loose this fear, we will never have a good prayer life or a good spiritual life either. Always remember it is a long way from your head to your heart.
