FROM THE WORD: When trouble is on every side

-A A +A
By C.L. Glasscock

This morning, I woke up thinking about people doubting their salvation. We all know this doubt is brought on by the devil.

One day I went to see my mother and she said, you know I have done everything I know to do to make it right with God and if there was anything else I knew to do I would do that too, what do you think?

I said mom, if you have did that, I believe that is all God would require you to do.

When mother was in bed at the hospital just before she left this world, she kept saying I want to go home. Roberta, my wife said mom as soon as you get well we will take you home. She raised up her right hand and said Praise Jesus. She really wanted to go home to be with Jesus.

One day I visited a friend who had cancer and was really very sick. After we had prayed and I was ready to leave, he said sit down there I have some questions I want to ask you.

He said I got saved at fifteen years of age and I got out into the world and did a lot of things that I knew God did not want me to do. Now  I have been going straight for years and keep repenting and it seems that I still lack something but I have done everything I know to do, what do you think?

My answer was all this doubting is coming from the devil.

He said you mean get the behind me Satan.

I said that is exactly right.

Before he died he told all of his family if you want to see me again you get your life right with God.

2 Corinthians 4:8-5:1 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

This is a great scripture and we must remember the next time the devil attacks us that we have Jesus fighting our battles and our faith is sufficient.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
