Dear Savvy Senior,
What’s the best, conflict-free way to divvy up my personal possessions to my kids after I’m gone? I have a lot of jewelry, art, family heirlooms and antique furniture, and five grown kids that don’t always see eye-to-eye on things. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dear Seeking,

My husband and I decided long ago not to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the conventional way. We do not go out to dinner or dancing and my husband does not send me roses. Instead we have a nice dinner at home and spend time as a family. Then, if we still feel the need for candy or flowers after the day, we check out the clearance prices at the local stores.

This subject is presented a full week before the day each year when most of us remember, with at least a card, or more, those to whom you want to express something special.
Some go to great extremes to express this love with elaborate gifts. Yes, I’m talking about Valentine’s Day, one week from tomorrow.

I love limes. I like lime-flavored candy and squeezing a lime wedge over Asian and Mexican food. I read Little Women when I was 8 years old, and longed to try lime pickles like Amy March, thinking that they were pickled limes and would be sweet like fruit slice candy.
When I started reading online about marmalade recipes, it was inevitable that I would decide to try making lime marmalade myself, especially when I read about adding a spoonful of marmalade to a cup of hot water to make tea. I had never even had marmalade, but I was obsessed with the idea of making it.
