    Spencer County High School 2013 recently hosted its annual art show.  Pictured are some examples of the work.

  • Klaus wins Zoo ‘trashformation’ contest

    Ava Klaus, daughter of Berny and Brooke, recently won the Louisville Zoo’s Trashformation contest for her age group. Trashformation is a contest to use recyclable items to create a scene or habitat in honor of Earth Day. Ava’s bear in the woods was made with bottle tops, toilet paper rolls, bottles, gum wrappers, cardboard and paper grass. Mayor Greg Fisher presented Ava with a bundle of prizes. Her favorite was her new lunch box with compartments for her food. Ava is in Kindergarten at SCES. She is in Ms. Hutchins’ class.

  • Brown siblings graduate

    Mike and Kathy Brown of Taylorsville would like to announce the college graduation of their children, Alex and Katie Brown. Both children attended Spencer County schools.
    Alex is graduating from the University of Louisville this Saturday with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in computer information systems. Katie graduated May 4 from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in aerospace engineering.

  • Bentley a U of L graduate

    Mr. and Mrs. Barry Bentley announce the graduation of their son, Joseph “Joey” Bentley, from the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering on Saturday, May 11.
    Bentley will earn a Masters of Engineering degree with a major in civil engineering. He is a 2008 graduate from Spencer County High School and is employed as an engineer for the Metropolitan Sewer District.

  • 4 SCHS, 1 CCA students named Governor’s Scholars

    The Governor’s Scholars Program of Kentucky recently announced that five Spencer County students were selected to participate in this year’s prestigious summer program.

  • Williamson accepted to Gatton Academy

    Spencer County High School recently received notification that sophomore Noah Williamson has been accepted to the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky.

  • Middle School student wins KHEAA essay contest

    Kelsie Justice, a sixth-grader at Spencer County Middle School, was recently named the winner of the Dream Out Loud Challenge, hosted by KHEAA.  Students were to write an essay, poem or produce a video demonstrating how they will change the world after college.

  • PHOTOS: Latin scholars

    Three students in Susan McGowan’s Latin classes received awards for their performance on the ‘2013 ACL/NCL National Latin Exam.’  Two of those students were recognized during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting. Robin Kosanouvong earned the silver maxima cum laude award, but was not present at the board meeting.
