David E. Vierling, of Louisville, was recently named to the dean’s list at the University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering.
He is a son of Vanessa Whitaker of Taylorsville and David A. Vierling of Louisville.
A 2009 graduate of Trinity High School, he is a junior at UK.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College recently announced the names of students who made the dean’s list and the president’s honor list for the spring 2012 semester. The president’s honor list is awarded to full-time and part-time students who are eligible based on the following criteria:
Full-time degree-seeking students earning a 4.0 grade point average and successfully completing at least 12 hours of course work for the academic term, excluding developmental courses, are included in the full-time student president’s honor list.

Hannah Beaverson, right, from Spencer County High School, attended a recent summer orientation session for incoming freshmen at Eastern Kentucky University. Beaverson plans to major in occupational science. Eastern expects to welcome approximately 2,700 freshmen to campus this fall. Fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 20.

Spencer County High School has announced the names of three students who have been selected to participate in Governor’s Scholars’ summer program for 2012.
The selected students are Shelby Hall, daughter of Danan and Cheryl Hall;  Bryce Martin, son of Dwight and Carla  Martin; Joshua Spencer, son of  Ivan and Mary Spencer.
Two students have been chosen as alternates and they are Emily Browning, daughter of William and Mary Browning, and Grace Coy, daughter of Michael and Bonnie Coy.
