  • Preschool hosts early childhood screenings

    Spencer County Preschool’s Early Childhood Screening will be April 19 and May 17 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The early childhood screening is by appointment only.
    These will be the only scheduled preschool screenings prior to the start of the 2013/2014 school year.
    Please call the preschool at 502-477-3210 to set up an appointment or for additional information.

    The Taylorsville Elementary kindergarten class of Mrs. Hickerson and Mrs. Forberger poses for a picture in front of its ‘Counting by Fives’ poster. The handprint poster helps students learn to county by fives, Hickerson said. The class is also learning to count nickels.

    Spencer County High School recently recognized Joshua Spencer as the January Student of the Month. He was nominated by Mrs. Tracy Shouse for being an ‘awesome young man’ and for being the BETA Club president who is depended on greatly to be a positive influence on his peers.
     

  • Clean up or pay up

    The Lawrenceburg Code Enforcement Board recently fined a Main Street property owner about $8,680 in contested nuisance ordinance violations, with the board saying it will waive all fines if the land owners clean up the property within the next 45 days.

  • TES names January students of the month

    Taylorsville Elementary School’s January students of the month are Maggie Wilder, Andrew Jordan, Ethan Ashcraft, Jayden Tomes, Jacob Wurts and Katelynn Hardin.

  • Donovan named to dean’s list

    Kasey Danielle Donovan was recently named to the fall semester dean’s list of the Donna and Allan Lansing School of Nursing at Bellarmine University with a GPA of 3.76. Donovan is the daughter of Danny and Joyce Donovan of Bloomfield and a graduate of Spencer County High School.

  • Host families sought locally for exchange students

    EF Foundation is an agency involved in the placement of foreign exchange students into local high schools, by being hosted by American families. This year Spencer County High has enjoyed two students, Mishale from Spain, and Anja from Germany.

  • WKU announces dean’s, president’s lists

    Below are the names of the Western Kentucky University students who were named to the dean’s and president’s list for the fall 2012 semester.
    Students making the dean’s list have a grade point average of 3.4 to 3.79 in a 4.0 scale. Students on the president’s list have GPAs of 3.8 to 4.0 and are indicated by an asterisk (*). To be eligible for the either list, students must have at least 12 hours of coursework that semester.

  • Moorman named to UC dean’s list

    In recognition of their academic performance, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs has announced the students that have been named to the University of the Cumberlands dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester.
    Taylorsville native Marissa Moorman earned dean’s list honors for the fall semester.
    To be eligible students must have achieved a grade of “A” in convocation while maintaining a minimum cumulative scholastic standing of 3.50.
