  • Shelburne named to dean’s list at Bellarmine

    Garrett Shelburne was recently named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2012 semester at the Bellarmine University School of Education.
    To be placed on the dean’s list, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

  • Guthrie announces 2013 Congressional Art Competition

    Congressman Brett Guthrie announced Friday that the 2013 Congressional Art Competition has begun.
    “This is a great opportunity to engage our country’s youth in a competitive challenge,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Each year we look forward to viewing the beautiful artwork that students submit.”
    All high school students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition. The first place winner will receive two airplane tickets to fly to Washington, D.C. to view their artwork on display and attend a reception.

  • OPERATION PREPARATION: SCHS sophomores participate in statewide college/career readiness

    During the month of March, Spencer County High School sophomores will participate in Operation Preparation, a statewide college/career readiness initiative.  Advising is a key strategy to ensure that every student is college/career ready by the time they graduate.  Tenth grade students will meet individually with a trained community adviser who will review their ILP (Individual Learning Plan), a career interest inventory and EXPLORE/PLAN results to discuss the student’s:
    Career aspirations, required education/training and workforce skills

  • Preschool hosts early childhood screenings

    Spencer County Preschool’s Early Childhood Screening will be April 19 and May 17 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The early childhood screening is by appointment only.
    These will be the only scheduled preschool screenings prior to the start of the 2013/2014 school year.
