  • Host families sought locally for exchange students

    EF Foundation is an agency involved in the placement of foreign exchange students into local high schools, by being hosted by American families. This year Spencer County High has enjoyed two students, Mishale from Spain, and Anja from Germany.

  • WKU announces dean’s, president’s lists

    Below are the names of the Western Kentucky University students who were named to the dean’s and president’s list for the fall 2012 semester.
    Students making the dean’s list have a grade point average of 3.4 to 3.79 in a 4.0 scale. Students on the president’s list have GPAs of 3.8 to 4.0 and are indicated by an asterisk (*). To be eligible for the either list, students must have at least 12 hours of coursework that semester.

  • Moorman named to UC dean’s list

    In recognition of their academic performance, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs has announced the students that have been named to the University of the Cumberlands dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester.
    Taylorsville native Marissa Moorman earned dean’s list honors for the fall semester.
    To be eligible students must have achieved a grade of “A” in convocation while maintaining a minimum cumulative scholastic standing of 3.50.

  • EKU announces dean’s list for fall 2012 semester

    The following students were named to the dean’s list at Eastern Kentucky University for the fall 2012 semester:
    Kaitlin Tess Culver, of Fisherville, a junior agriculture major.
    Caleb David Hodgson, of Fisherville, a junior criminal justice major.
    Marissa Beth Wente, of Fisherville, a senior communication disorders major.
    Hannah Leslie Kathryn Beaverson, of Taylorsville, a freshman pre-occupational science major.
    Taylor Corinne Clayton, of Taylorsville, a senior biology pre-medical science major.

  • Martin named to Centre dean’s list

    Amber Martin of Taylorsville has been named to the dean’s list for the fall term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.
    Martin is the daughter of Kyle and Catherine Martin of Taylorsville and is a graduate of Spencer County High School.
     

  • Spencer Elementary kindergarten registration approaching

    Spencer County Elementary kindergarten registration will be held March 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    This registration is for children who will be five years old by Oct. 1, 2013 and are not currently enrolled in Spencer County Preschool. To be fully enrolled the following must be on file:

    • Proof of residency (not a driver’s license)
    • A copy of the original birth certificate (not a hospital certificate)
    • A copy of the student’s Social Security card
    • A current immunization certificate

  • UK announces fall 2012 dean’s list

    The University of Kentucky recently released its dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester.  A total of 5,780 students, a record number for one semester, were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.
    To make a dean’s list in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes.  Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the dean’s list.

  • Three earn fall 2012 dean’s awards at EKU

    Eastern Kentucky University announced 505 dean’s award recipients for the Fall 2012 semester.
    Local students honored with the dean’s award are:
    Marissa Beth Wente, of Fisherville, a senior communication disorders major,
    Ryan Steven Conard, of Taylorsville, a junior biology pre-medical science major, and
    Eliza Brooke Fahringer, of Taylorsville, a sophomore biology major.
