  • Students selected as Governor’s Scholars

    Spencer County High School has announced the names of six students who have been selected as nominees to represent SCHS in the Governor’s Scholars summer program for 2013.

  • Three local students named to Campbellsville University dean’s list

    Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham recently announced the academic honors’ list for the fall 2012 semester.
    The following students have been named to Campbellsville University’s fall 2012 Dean’s List:
    Chelsey Joan Robinson, a freshman of Taylorsville;
    Jeffrey Shawn Sosebee, a senior of Taylorsville;
    Courtney Brooke Spurling, a sophomore of Taylorsville.

    Marissa Allen is pictured with Superintendent Chuck Adams at a recent Board of Education meeting. Allen was honored at the December meeting for her work coordinating student tutors that have assisted other local students.
     

  • New NHS members to be inducted Friday

    Mary E. Baldock, math teacher at Spencer County High School, recently announced the newest members of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society.
    “As the sponsor of the Spencer County High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, it gives me great pleasure to announce our new members,” Baldock said. “When you see these students, please offer your congratulations and let them know that they have been recognized for their outstanding scholarship, conduct, leadership and service to others.”

  • Three earn AS degrees from Mid-Continent University

    On Dec. 1, 2012, Dr. Robert Imhoff, president of Mid-Continent University, conferred degrees for approximately 360 students. Commencement ceremonies were held at Graves County High School in Mayfield.

    The following graduates from Spencer County received associate of science degrees:
    Alex Brown, Summa Cum Laude
    Jason Morgan Mobley, Cum Laude
    Tanya Yolanda Fluke, Summa Cum Laude

  • Campbellsville University names local students to President’s List

    Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors’ list for the fall 2012 semester.
    The following students have been named to Campbellsville University’s President’s List for fall 2012:
    Kayla Nicole Hood, a senior of Taylorsville, Ky.;
    Jessica Renee Karner, a junior of Taylorsville, Ky.;

  • PHOTOS: Three outgoing board members recognized

    Superintendent Chuck Adams bid farewell to three of the five Spencer County Board of Education members at the board’s December meeting.

    He thanked each for their service and gave each a commemorative gift. Members Scott Travis, Mary Ann Carden and Shannon Medley did not seek reelection in 2012 and their terms ended Dec. 31.

  • PHOTO: Jazz band brings ‘merry melodies’ to students during lunch hour

    Spencer County Middle School eighth grader Cole DeRudder played the trombone while dressed like Santa Claus during the lunch hour at the middle school recently. Members of the SCMS Jazz band performed to put students in the holiday spirit.
     

  • PHOTO: Riggs graduates from Western Kentucky

    Christopher Riggs, 22, graduated from Western Kentucky University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program this weekend. Riggs is a 2008 graduate of Spencer County High School. He is a son of Stanley and Phyllis Riggs. He has accepted a job at Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green in the cardiac care unit.
