  • Two named to St. Catharine dean’s list

    St. Catharine College recently announced the list of students who have achieved extraordinary academic success for the fall 2011 semester. The dean’s list includes all students who had a grade point average of 3.6 - 3.999. The following students were recognized for their academic acheivement:

  • PHOTO: SCHS National Honor Society inducts 23 new members

    On Friday, Jan. 13, the Spencer County Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 23 new members. The ceremony was led by NHS President Corey Thomas and sponsor Mary Baldock.

    This club is comprised of students that exhibit high scholarship, leadership, character and community service. The ceremony included new members lighting candles from the torch representing the area most significant to their lives and taking a pledge to uphold the high purposes of the club, being loyal to their school and maintaining high standards in their lives.

  • Local high school students named Governor’s Scholar candidates

    Spencer County High School has announced the names of seven students who have been selected as candidates to participate in Governor’s Scholars’ summer program for 2012.

  • COLUMN: Local school board members honored during School Board Recognition Month

    Although the five members of the Spencer County Board of Education oversee a $21 million dollar budget and make decisions about multimillion-dollar building projects, more importantly they also make certain the individual child in Spencer County gets what he or she needs to successfully learn in school and beyond. All of this is completed in spite of shrinking state and federal dollars for education and tough economic times locally.

  • Brown recognized at Shamrock luncheon

    Spencer County resident Grant Brown was recently recognized for outstanding academic performance at Trinity High  School’s annual Shamrock Awards Luncheon. The luncheon was held at the Galt House Grand Ballroom in Louisville, Ky.

  • Greenwell named to JCTCS dean’s list

    Sarah Ann Louise Greenwell, of Taylorsville, was named to the Jefferson Community and Technical College Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Greenwell is a 2011 graduate of Hillview Academy and says she wouldn’t be where she is scholastically or in life without Hillview.

  • Two earn academic honors at Campbellsville

    Campbellsville University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham recently announced the academic honors list for the fall 2011 semester.
    Bradley Scott Travis, a senior from Taylorsville, was named to the president’s list.
    Kayla Nicole Hood, a junior from Taylorsville, was named to the university’s dean’s list.
