  • Five students attend 2011 GSP

    Five Spencer County students recently attended the 2011 Governor’s Scholars Program.
    Cameron Mitchell Bishop, Austin Tyler Jaggers, Susan Porter Mann and Corey Matthew Thomas all represented Spencer County High School.
    Amanda Renea Smith represented the Whitefield Academy.
    A total of 1,074 high school juniors participated in this year’s program.

  • Stidham makes dean’s list

    Wendy Stidham, a daughter of Chuck and Gina Stidham, earned a place as a University of Louisville dean’s scholar for the 2011 spring semester.
    Students must obtain a GPA of a 4.0 for the semester. Stidham is a marketing major and entrepreneurship minor in the College of Business.
    She is also an active member in the U of L Marching Band, Honors Program, Honors Scholars Program, The National Society of Collegiates, and The Golden Key International Honor Society at U of L.

  • Bleemel attends Governor’s School for the Arts

    This summer, The Kentucky Center hosted more than 200 eager young artists from every region of the Commonwealth at The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts at Lexington’s Transylvania University from June 19 to July 9.

  • Bus drivers complete training

    Bus drivers for Spencer County Schools completed their annual 8-hour training course July 26.

    The training included bloodborne pathogen, student safety, special needs students, basic first aid, fire extinguisher, accident response and annual updates. This training is required for all employees with a CDL and school bus endorsement. Special trainers were the school nurse team and the Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department.

  • Bleemel named to Honors List at Spaulding University

    Joni Bleemel, of Taylorsville, was recently named to Spaulding University’s Academic Honors List.
    Bleemel was selected for the list after attaining a cumulative 3.5 or higher grade point average during academic year 2011-2012.
    Bleemel is studying nursing.

  • Elmore graduates from U of L

    Alysia Elmore graduated from the University of Louisville on May 14. Elmore got her bachelor’s in business administration, with a major in equine administration and a minor in entrepreneurship. She is a 2007 graduate of Spencer County High School.

  • BACK TO SCHOOL: Fill up on cafeteria knowledge this school year

    Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
    Each student should receive a lunch application through the mail this summer. Anyone who wishes to apply must complete and return application to Central Office or their child’s school by August 31, 2011.
    Your child’s lunch status will remain the same until that date, after which they will be switched to full pay and you will be responsible for any charges incurred.
