    The Spencer County Schools Preventive Substance Abuse Committee is meeting May 5 in the Spencer County Middle School Media Center at 4 p.m.

  • Local “PEP” rally to provide parents, students with important resources

    The Kentucky Partnering to Empower Students orgnaization is sponsoring a local “PEP” rally April 30 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville.
    The rally is for any and all parents and students in the region and will include lunch, activities for adults and school-aged children, door prizes, resource booths and more.

    Taylorsville Elementary School recently released its third nine weeks honor roll. Students are listted by class:

  • Gettinger named to Berea College dean’s list

    Taylorsville resident Anna Gettinger was named to the Fall 2010 dean’s list at Berea College.
    A student is named to the dean’s list who achieves a GPA of 3.2 or higher for a minimum course load equivalent to 16 semester hours.
    Berea is a non-denominational, liberal arts college that offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in 28 fields of study and Bachelor of Science degrees in agriculture and natural resources, business administration, technology and industrial arts, and nursing.

  • An international switch

    EF Foundation is an agency excited about placing foreign exchange students in American homes, including here in Spencer County. This school year, the foundation placed two students at Spencer County High School.

  • Bennett a page for Montell

    Madolyn Bennett served as a floor page for State Representative Brad Montell in the Kentucky House of Representatives on February 18. Madolyn is a tenth grade student at Spencer County High School. She is a daughter of Karen Florence and Mark Bennett.

  • Shawver to attend Naval Academy summer seminar

    Christina Shawver, a student at Spencer County High School, will participate in the 2011 U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program in Annapolis, Md., the academy announced in a news release.

  • High school fares well at history competition

    Spencer County High School was represented by 25 students at the Regional National History Day Competition held Saturday, March 26 at the Frazier International History Museum.  The following students placed high enough to move on to state competition on April 30 at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort.

  • Stidham makes Louisville dean’s list

    Wendy Stidham, a daughter of Chuck and Gina Stidham, was named to the University of Louisville’s fall 2010 dean’s list with a 3.94 GPA for the semester.
    She is a sophomore marketing major with an entrepreneurship minor in the College of Business.
    Stidham is also an active member in U of L’s marching band, honors program, Honors Scholars Program, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
