  • ANNIVERSARY: Chessers celebrate 55 years

    Bettie and Joe Chesser were married Jan. 10, 1959, in Taylorsville, where they have lived most of their married life.

    They have two daughters, Deanna Shepherd (Bob) and Angie Helton; four grandsons, pictured, Joey Tindle, Nick Lake, Daniel Helton and Dalton Helton; two granddaughters, Ashlee Tindle and Stacy Dahlsjo; six great-grandchildren, Grace Tindle, Alexis Helton, Piper Dahlsjo, Sadie Dahlsjo, Avery Dahlsjo and Jaxon Dahlsjo.
    Bettie is a housewife retired from Elk Creek Grocery and Joe is employed at Etscorn’s.

  • Moore celebrates 85th birthday

    Lifelong Spencer Countian Oneita Moore turned 85 on Dec. 18.

    She celebrated the milestone birthday with family on Dec. 14 at the Woodhaven Country Club.
    Moore has two children, Brenda Gregory and Ken Moore; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is pictured above with seven of her nine grandchildren.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Monroes celebrate 50th anniversary

    Kenneth and Faye Monroe will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 1, 2014.
    The Monroes were married Jan. 1, 1964 in Corydon, Ind.
    They have three children, Harold Monroe, Patricia Monroe and Michael Monroe and his wife, Malena, and three grandchildren, Beth, Alex and Tasha.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Longs to celebrate golden anniversary

    James and Wanda Long will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 5, 2014, with friends and family at Elk Creek Baptist Church from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
    The Longs were married Jan. 3, 1964, at Elk Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Richardson.
    They are retired — Wanda from the Shelby Count Farm Service Agency and James from Brunswick Corporation.
    They have a son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Marsha; granddaughter, Peyton; and grandson, Brandon, all of Richmond.
    Friends and relatives are invited to the celebration. No gifts, please.

  • WEDDING: Mobley, Wayne wed Nov. 8

    Shelli Mobley of Taylorsville and Larry Wayne Jr. of Spencer County were married Nov. 8 at the Masonic Lodge.

    The bride is a daughter of Prentice and Tonya Mobley of Taylorsville. She is a granddaughter of Debbie Milburn and the late Billy Graham and Imogene and the late Prentice Mobley.
    She is a 2012 graduate of Ramey Estep.
    The groom is a son of Larry and Doris Wayne of Spencer County. He is a grandson of the late Mac and Ira Gibson-Clarkson and Susie Collins and the late Roy Edward Wayne.
    He is a 2007 graduate of Spencer County High School.

  • BIRTH: Redmons welcome daughter Selena Mae

    Merissa and Steven Redmon of Taylorsville announce the birth of their daughter, Selena Mae Redmon, on Oct. 29, 2013, at Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
    She weighed 10 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Grandparents are Chris and Candi Redmon, Dana and Wayne Pruitt and Steven and Missy Redmon.
