  • BIRTH: Grayson Shane born Nov. 21

    Josh and Lisa Long of Taylorsville announce the birth of their son, Grayson Shane Long, on Nov. 21, 2012 at 5:09 p.m. at Norton Suburban Hospital.

    He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
    He was welcomed home by a sister, Lilly Long.
    He is the grandson of Rod and Debbie Cundiff, Joe and Patty Maupin, and Joe and DeeDee Long.
    His great-grandparents are Joe and Mattie Cundiff.

  • BIRTH: Twins EmmaLea and MaKenzei born Oct. 29

    EmmaLea Nicole and MaKenzei Lynn Whitaker were born Oct. 29, 2012, at 12:07 and 12:08 p.m. at Norton Suburban Hospital.

    The girls weighed 4 pounds, 1 ounce and 5 pounds, 3 ounces, respectively, and were 15 and 17 inches long.
    They are the daughters of Elizabeth Whitaker of Fairdale.
    Their grandparents are Leslie Berry of Fairdale and Ernie Green of Taylorsville.
    Their great-grandparents are Debbie Burton of Hillview and Pat Green of Taylorsville.
    Their great-great-grandmother is Betty Whitaker of Taylorsville.
     

  • ANNIVERSARY: 50th anniversary celebration

    Carolyn and David Travis will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elk Creek Restaurant.

    The Travises were married Jan. 4, 1963, at Elk Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack H. Richardson.
    They have one daughter, Debbie Nation and her husband, Keith, and two grandchildren, David Keith Nation and his girlfriend, Samantha Morris, and Stephanie Leann Nation.
    The couple requests no gifts.

  • Botner graduates basic training

    Air Force Airman Jason A. Botner graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
    The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
    Botner is the son of Scott Botner of Normandy Heights Road in Taylorsville.

  • BIRTH: Harrison James born Sept. 26

    Jack Shannon and Jamie Marion announce the birth of their son, Harrison James Marion on Sept. 26, 2012. He weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. He was welcomed home by his brother, Alex Marion, 2. His grandparents are John and Diana Bridwell and John and Colleen Cook. His great-grandparents are Catherine Murphy, Lalika Cook and the late Mary and Herman Stevens.

  • BIRTH: Baby Albert born Oct. 17

    James Albert and Jennifer Brown of Taylorsville announce the birth of their son, Cooper James Albert, on Oct. 17, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East. Born at 4:33 a.m., he weighed 7 pounds, 10.9 ounces and was 20 inches long. He was welcomed home by his big brother, Anthony Albert, 6. His maternal grandparents are Arnold and Melissa Brown of Taylorsville. His paternal grandparents are Denis and Connie Albert of Taylorsville.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Celebrating 50 years

    Pastor Joseph and Betty Chesser Vires will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at New Hope Tabernacle Church. They are the parents of Scott Vires of Mount Washington, Trevor Vires and Chris Vires, both of Taylorsville.  Mrs. Vires has retired from General Electric Company and works for the Spencer County school system. Mr. Vires is the pastor of New Hope Tabernacle Church, which is located at 722 Townhill Road in Taylorsville. All friends and family are invited.
