  • ENGAGEMENT: Blandford, Elmore plan Feb. wedding

    Steve and Debbie Blandford announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ann Marie Blandford, to Erik Elmore, son of Gayle Hatfield, and Bob and Marie Elmore.
    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Indiana University Southeast, and the University of Louisville with a Master of Science in social work. She is employed with LifeSpring Health Systems in Jeffersonville, Ind.
    She is the granddaughter of G C Cox of Taylorsville and Donald Blandford of Shelbyville.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Mr. & Mrs. Jeffiers celebrate 50 years

    Preston and Linda Jeffiers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Spencer County Chamber of Commerce Community Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Preston and Linda were married at the Orleans Christian Church in Orleans, Ind., Linda’s hometown, on Oct. 20, 1963. Celebrating with the couple will be their children and spouses: Steve and Karen Jeffiers, Larissa and Tim Phelps, and Susanne and Clint Krause.  Grandchildren Rosa, Case, Lucy, Grant, Greer and William will help them celebrate, also.

  • WEDDING: Cecil, Matherly wed Sept. 7

    Ashley Elizabeth Cecil and Bobby Ray Matherly, both of Taylorsville, were married Saturday, Sept. 7, at Chapel at the Park in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
    The bride is a daughter of Tony Cecil and Beth Cecil of Taylorsville. She is a 2005 graduate of Spencer County High School and is currently employed at Norton’s Neurology Center.
    The groom is a son of Albert Ray Matherly and Charlotte D. Shouse Matherly of Taylorsville. He is a 2003 graduate of Spencer County High School and is currently employed by TARC and is a Taylorsville-Spencer County firefighter.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Donovan, Fawbush to marry Sept. 27

    Kasey Danielle Donovan and Thomas Lee Fawbush, both of Taylorsville, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The bride-to-be is a daughter of Danny and Joyce Donovan of Bloomfield. She is employed as a registered nurse at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
    The groom-to-be is a son of Mark and Angela Morgan of Taylorsville. He is the owner and operator of T&K Services of Kentucky.
    The wedding is planned for Sept. 27, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort.

  • BIRTH: Sarah Ann born Sept. 10

    Bryan and Amanda Head announce the arrival of their daughter, Sarah Ann. Sarah was born on Sept. 10, 2013, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces.  Older brother Teegan completes the family. Bryan is a 2004 graduate of Spencer County High School. Grandparents are Gordon and Sandy Deapen of Taylorsville.

  • BIRTH: Stevens family welcomes Alex Lee

    Mike and Joann Stevens of Taylorsville announce the birth of their son, Alex Lee Stevens, on Sept. 10, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long.
    He is welcomed home by his brother, Mikey, 5.
    His grandparents are Charlotte Hardin of Coxs Creek and James Lee Jr. and Pauline Stevens of Taylorsville.
    His great-grandmother is Beatrice Terrell.

  • BIRTHS: Gunters welcome two new grandchildren

    Willie and Madelle Gunter of Taylorsville announce the births of two new grandchildren.
    Jackson Alexander Raymer was born March 11 at 11:48 a.m. in Lexington. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 inches long. Welcoming Jackson, along with his grandparents, are his proud parents, Nathan and Samantha Raymer of Georgetown. He was also welcomed by grandparents Dennis and Pam Raymer and David and Terri Keown, all of Georgetown; great-grandparents are Dennis Raymer of Georgetown, Fred and Joyce Keown of Swayzee, Ind., and Bob and Jackie Wilson of Wabash, Ind.

  • Keeling, Robinson to wed

    Mitchell and Rosa Lee Keeling announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Stefanie, to Gregory Robinson of Louisville, son of Lonnie and Darlene Robinson.
    The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Spencer County High School and has a BSBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
    The groom-to-be is a 1993 graduate of Butler High School and has a computer science degree.
    The wedding is planned for September in Goshen.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Gilbert, Tolliver plan Sept. 21 wedding

    Sylvia Brooke Gilbert and Matthew Shane Tolliver, both of Waddy, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding on Sept. 21.
    The bride-to-be is a daughter of Sharon and James Gilbert of Mount Eden. She is a graduate of Spencer County High School.
    The groom-to-be is a son of Rebecca and Henry Tolliver of Waddy. He is a graduate of Shelby County High School.
    The wedding will take place at Old Country Church in Mount Eden with a reception to follow at the Spencer County Chamber of Commerce.

  • BIRTH: Jump family welcomes Sophia Grace

    Justin and Sarah Jump of Taylorsville announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Grace Jump, at Baptist Hospital East on June 16 at 3:44 p.m.

    Sophia was 6 pounds, 1 ounce and 21 inches long.
    Also welcoming Sophia are her grandparents, Dennis and Connie Eisenback and Randall and Glenna Jump, along with her great-grandparents Wanda Jump, Hobert and Edith Judd, Paulette and Jim Age, Zeke Eisenback and Alberta Philpot.
