  • ENGAGEMENT: Pritchard, Bridgman plan December wedding

    Melinda Pritchard of Taylorsville and Lance Cpl. Kevin Bridgman, who is stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is a daughter of Wade and Suzanne Pritchard of Taylorsville, and is an upcoming Associate of Arts graduate of Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.
    The groom-to-be is a son of Paul and Violette Bridgman, who are Christian missionaries in Okayama, Japan.
    A December wedding in Louisville is planned.

  • Mary Lou Florence retires from Farm Service Agency

    Mary Lou Florence, program technician with the Bullitt/Spencer/Jefferson County Farm Service Agency, will retire with 27 years of service to the agency on Nov. 30.

  • WEDDING: Collins, Webster wed in Wisconsin

    Eileen Collins and Austin Webster, both of Morrison, Wis., were married July 15 in Wayside, Wis.
    The groom is originally from Taylorsville.

  • PHOTO: Smith completes Chicago Marathon

    Spencer County resident Joe Paul Smith traveled to Chicago for the 34th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The 26.2-mile run was on Oct. 9. At the age of 62, Smith has now completed 37 marathons. Also running on this trip were Steve Hagan of Bardstown and Mandy and Eddie Benton of Lexington. All are members of the Kentucky Hill Runners.

  • BIRTH: Prater family welcomes Hannah Ruth

    Parents Andrew and Tabitha Prater and big brother Jacob Prater, all of Taylorsville, announce the birth of Hannah Ruth Prater on Sept. 29 at 10:03 a.m.

    Hannah was born at Baptist Hospital East weighing 8 pounds, 10.8 ounces and was 20 inches long. She is the granddaughter of Dennis and Judy Bowman, of Taylorsville, and Lanny and Shelia Prater, of Fisherville.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Templin, Hood to wed Friday

    Charlie and Elaine Buis of Russell Springs and Terry and Deshea Templin of Pikeville announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Riann Elizabeth Templin, to Jason Paul Hood, son of the Rev. Johnny and Joyce Hood of Taylorsville.

    The couple will be joined in marriage at 3 Trees Church in Russell Springs on Friday at 7 p.m. A reception will follow in the Hillside Students Center located at the church. All family and friends are invited to attend.

  • BIRTH: Redmons welcome daughter Aleigha Paige

    Jacob Redmon announces the birth of his baby sister, Aleigha Paige Redmon. Aleigha was born on Sept. 28, 2011, at Norton Suburban Hospital at 7:47 p.m. She weighed 8.13 pounds and was 20 inches long. She is the daughter of Chris and Candi Redmon, and the youngest sister of Ashley, Brittany and Merissa Redmon. Her grandparents are Kathy and Kenny Thompson, Janet Montgomery, and Daniel and Freda Biggers.

  • Jensen graduates from basic training

    Army National Guard Pvt. Brandon T. Jensen recently graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.
    During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.
    Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Stidham, Thornhill to wed

    Chuck and Gina Stidham of Taylorsville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Stidham, to Ryan Thornhill.

    The groom-to-be is a son of Jeff and Susan Thornhill of Irvington.
    The wedding will take place at the Caldwell Chapel in Louisville on Oct. 15. Formal invitations have been sent.
