    In John 8:32, Jesus said his infamous words, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” He was challenged by the leaders of that time. They didn’t believe they were enslaved by anyone or anything. So they questioned His statement.

  • Jesus: Servant of God

    When Jesus came to this earth it was not for glory or to be glorified. I am sure it was not glorious for Jesus to be born of a peasant Jewish girl, instead of a queen. I am sure it was not glorious for Jesus to be born in a stable full of animals, instead of a palace. Jesus came not to be glorified, but to serve.

  • Church Happenings - Week of April 8, 2015

    Gospel Sing at Riverview Baptist
    There will be a Fish Fry and Gospel Sing for Northern Lights Missions on Saturday, April 18, at 4:30 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church, 1850 Louisville Road.
    Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children under 10. The event will feature the groups Victory Road and Gospel I’s. There will also be a cake auction. Tickets will be sold at the door or see church members for details.

  • What the cross was about

    As you are well aware, last Sunday was Easter. Hopefully you were able to join one of the many churches here in Spencer County for a “resurrection experience.” The cross is truly a sign of God’s love toward us. We are reminded of the agony Jesus went though on the cross and His glorious resurrection needed to pay the price of our sins.

  • Sleepless nights

    We all have those sleepless nights from time to time, some of us more often than others. I have been plagued with a touch of insomnia all my life. Sometimes I just call it being a night person, but it really just means I don’t sleep well. I don’t know when it actually started, but I can remember sleepless or at least very restless nights even back when I was in grade school.

    Community Good Friday Easter Service April 3
    The Spencer County Ministerial Association is hosting their annual community Good Friday Services at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 145 W Main Street, at noon on Friday, April 3. A light lunch will follow the Good Friday Service and take-outs welcome. Brother Greg Taylor, pastor of Bethlehem Church, will bring the message. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
