Roberta, my wife, and I were eating at a Cracker Barrel and we had a very sweet little waitress. I asked her if she was a Christian. Her answer was, “I’m somewhat a Christian.” I thought that was an honest answer.
When you ask some people if they are a Christian they will start telling you where they go to church or all the good things they do. I’ll have to admit that is good, but a church does not save and doing good things does not save you, only the blood of Jesus Christ saves you, and you become a Christian through his blood.

One day I was not doing much, so I decided, well, I will write an article. I chose a topic and started to write and after a while I saw that I could not put one together. I had wadded up two and thrown them away before I really realized that something was wrong.
I was trying to write on my own strength instead of Jesus’ strength. When I read those articles they sounded awful.
Sometimes we as Christians want Jesus in our life when we have nothing else very important to do. But I think we all know that Jesus wants the first and the best from us.

When I grew up on our family farm in Breckenridge County, I stayed with my grandparents a lot. My grandmother had a lot of old sayings. One was when someone was real good at doing something; she would say he or she “cut their teeth on that.” After I received Jesus Christ as my savior and started reading the Bible, I realized that the book of Acts was the most challenging book in the Bible for me and so my grandmother would say “I cut my teeth” on the book of Acts because I read it many, many times.
