  • COLUMN: It’s OK to be ‘straw’

You probably never think about straw, and frankly I usually don’t either. But I have a bale of straw in my garage and spring is coming so I’m thinking once again about trying to get my lawn looking better. Spread a little grass seed and cover it with a little straw to help hold the moisture in and keep the wind from blowing the seeds away.

  • COLUMN: ‘The greatest of these is love’

I Corinthians 13:4-13, says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. …And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”
The apostle Paul sure had a beautiful way of describing love, didn’t he?

Listen to these words from the gospel of Luke, chapter 4 verses 14-21:

  • COLUMN: ‘Give us today our daily bread’

The other day I had lunch at a restaurant that brings warm rolls to the table. It was a chilly, rainy sort of day and those rolls were what we needed. There is something about warm, fresh bread that is not only delicious, but comforting as well. Add a little soft butter soaking in and it just gets even better.

  • COLUMN: Walking the dog

As some of you know, I have a pretty big dog and every day she gets walked three or four times. It doesn’t matter what the weather or how we are feeling, Molly gets her walk. One day last week I walked her wearing a t-shirt, a regular shirt, a sweater, a hooded sweatshirt, and a coat, gloves and a scarf. It almost takes me longer to get dressed than to take her for a walk.
