  • COLUMN: Columnist: God will judge

I know I write a lot about how sinful our country is. Believe me, I write what Jesus lays on my heart to write.
The reason I changed my registration from Democrat to Republican was because I thought the Republican party – even though it was wrong in a lot of decisions it makes – was right more than the Democrats.

  • COLUMN: God’s heart aches for us

Have you ever been struck by something and found such a profound truth in it that you didn’t quite know how to express it?  That’s how I feel today.  I’m not sure if I can explain in a few simple words the thunderbolt that hit my heart watching the video for the song “Hello World” by Lady Antebellum.  You can find it on YouTube.

  • COLUMN: Columnist says the best choice is to ‘Choose Jesus’

A country song a few years ago was titled, “The Choices We Have Made,” and I thought about the choices we make. Some are good choices, some are bad choices, some are better and some are worse.
The very best choice we can make is to receive Jesus as our savior and follow him. If we do follow Jesus and never look back, all the choices we make will be great ones.

  • COLUMN: Getting breakfast right

Are you a breakfast person? I generally am not, and I think I pay the price for it. Now don’t get me wrong, I love breakfast, I just rarely take the time to eat it.  And I can hear some of you now saying, “Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day..”

  • COLUMN: Have you surrendered your life fully?

A man came to me last week and asked me if I thought God got tired of him repenting. He said he had a bad drinking problem and he would quit for a long period of time, and would pray to God that he would help him to quit.
I told him God wanted us to repent for our sins, regardless of what they were and God would help him quit drinking if he would surrender it all to him.
I talked to another man and he said he had to be in prayer of repentance every day. And I thought “How true, me too.”

  • COLUMN: Too busy to give God your time?

It seems that all the labor saving devices and fast food restaurants have only helped us exhaust ourselves. We get up earlier, go to bed later and run ourselves ragged in between.
We get up and get the kids ready for school and then run off to work ourselves. Most jobs are doing more with less these days so if you are blessed to have a job, there is not much time for a coffee break.

  • COLUMN: Columnist: Put Christ first or our country will fail

We are living in a time in America when our leaders do not look at the word of God.
2 Timothy 4:3 says, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they reap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”
Doesn’t this sound like some national politicians today? Each one tells us that they have the answer to bring us out of the depression we are in.

  • PHOTOS: Little Mount Baptist hosts fall festival

Little Mount Baptist Church recently celebrated its annual fall festival Sept. 10. Attendees enjoyed wagon rides, music, a yard sale, craft booths and an auction.

  • COLUMN: God is everywhere

I finished reading through the Old Testament. Even though I have read through it a few times before, this was a great experience. No matter how many times you read God’s word, every time you read God’s word it is a new experience.
When I grew up, I heard preachers preach that God is everywhere and that was hard for me to understand because I did not know God. Now that I have accepted him as my personal savior, it is easy for me to understand that God is everywhere.
David in Psalms 139 tells us where God was with him.

  • COLUMN: God’s word shines light on deeds of darkness

A few nights ago I was walking our dog one evening and I heard coyotes yipping and howling in the distance.  Having grown up in the city, I didn’t realize what a nuisance coyotes could be in a rural community.  Now I know that coyotes can kill calves and chickens and will even snag the occasional family pet!
One friend of ours had a pesky coyote problem, but he finally shot one particular coyote and the problems stopped.  He had that thing stuffed and stood it by his front door like it was howling at you as you entered!
