• COLUMN: Jesus makes his followers saints

and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes” (Revelations 7:17).
If the events of this life make you cry, remember that God is there to wipe your tears away. We need to remember that the saints in heaven were not necessarily very saintly people here on this earth. Matter of fact some of the dirty rotten sinners here in church today will make it to heaven and be counted among the saints in heaven. Shocking isn’t it? Some wonder how can this be?

    A reading from John 8:31-36:
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

I just heard that Twitter made the big time and now we can buy shares!  I have a Twitter account and using 144 characters or less I can share or receive thoughts, ideas or activities with friends.  Such a simple idea has taken a company all the way to the New York Stock Exchange!

  • COLUMN: God never forgets

I enjoy traveling but I’ve begun to notice something strange.  It seems that whenever we take a trip lately, I forget something!  Recently I forgot my toothbrush, not a big deal, I only use it everyday!  Another time I forgot to take a coat while traveling over a wet and rainy weekend!  It’s gotten so bad I’ve started planning for it.  I go over the list of things I need before I leave, then I add a few dollars in my pocket for the things I’ll forget.  I plan on a trip to WalMart at least once on every trip!

  • COLUMN: We are our brother’s keeper

Today’s scripture passage comes from Luke 17: 1-6:
“He said to his disciples, it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble. Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you  seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
