  • Hidden in plain sight

Most of us enjoy those picture puzzles where things are hidden in plain sight.  You know the ones I mean, like a picture of a wheat field with a pencil and a fork hidden on the page.  You know it is there, but it is so hard to pick out.

Then there are optical illusions, I love those too.  You know, where you look at a picture and all you can see is a chair, unless you see the house.  Both are there, but we can only perceive one at a time.

  • Comforting lies

Most mornings we get up and at least glance in the mirror, but what do we really see?  As I get older, I realize the guy in the mirror has changed.  I mean, when did that double chin show up?  And where did my hair go?  So I see evidence every day that I am not as young as I used to be, yet in my mind I still think like that 25-year-old I remember.

  • Soundtracks of life

Have you noticed how much music is a part of our lives?  We get in the car and turn the radio on, we ride an elevator and the music is playing, we eat out and all the time there is music in the background.  Music is a big part of our lives.

Somehow music engages our emotions, but it can also engage our minds.  A good song may get us to tap our feet; a great song will touch our hearts and make us think about life.  Some songs bring tears to our eyes, others bring laughter, and some just speak to us in ways we can’t even explain.

  • A true account of faith and forgiveness

For those of you that have never heard of a woman named Corrie Ten Boom and her remarkable family, it is truly a heart-breaking account of courage and sacrifice.

We begin our story with Cornelia (nicknamed Corrie) who was born in Haarlem, Netherlands, in 1892. She was raised in a devoted Christian atmosphere and lived in a large house above her father’s business where he was a jeweler and watch maker. This loving family believed in demonstrating their spiritual convictions by offering shelter, food and help to anyone in need.

  • A rainy day

Lately we’ve had a bit of rain and listening to people talk about the weather can be interesting. For example, if someone has to drive in the rain they may hate it.  The next person may be trying to raise a garden, and they need the rain.  A little kid may love splashing in the mud, but her mom hates cleaning up all the mud that gets tracked in.

Different people experience the same thing different ways, we all get that.  But what about the way we react sometimes?  Think about a rainy weekend.
