I love sitting outside on a summer evening and watching the fireflies come out. As the sun fades and darkness spreads, suddenly little sparks of light spring up. They flash for a moment, go out, then a moment later flash a little farther off.
Some yards and fields seem to glow, alive with sparkling fireflies. Like most kids I’d catch a few and put them in a jar, but they aren’t nearly as amazing in a jar. It was much more fun to gently catch them and then let them fly flashing away. I confess, sometimes I still do that.
