  • Faith for Today: The cost of following Jesus
  • Faith For Today: Why not open your Bible right now?

When I was a kid I loved to go to the mailbox. It was like Christmas every day. A letter from a relative, a catalog full of marvelous gadgets, occasionally a package, a birthday or thank you card, you never know what might be hiding inside the mailbox. It wasn’t until I got older that I understood about the bills that come, but even today, I still get a little thrill opening that mailbox. Maybe something wonderful will be inside.

  • COLUMN: Warning lights ahead

The other night my wife and I came upon an accident that had just happened.
Thankfully no one was hurt, but the cars were stopped in the middle of a very dangerous stretch of road.  From either direction you couldn’t really see the wreck until you were right on it!

  • COLUMN: Jesus, tamer of demons

Today’s scripture reference comes from Luke 8:26-39:

  • Faith For Today: Freedom - It really is that important

It’s Independence Day tomorrow and it reminds me how important freedom is.
The generation that won our independence understood the importance of freedom.
They also understood the importance of responsibility.  They tried to create a nation and a government that kept the two in balance.

  • Faith For Today: Crucified with Christ, living by faith

A reading from Galatians 2:15-20: “Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

  • Faith For Today: Let God support you as you float

I don’t know about you but I love to swim. I have enjoyed swimming since I was a little kid. I remember my first swimming lessons and splashing around with friends in the pool. I remember the first time I jumped off a diving board and the first time I looked down from a high dive and gathered all my courage to leap off.
