Country Ham Breakfast

Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210 will be having an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.  Saturday. The breakfast is $6 per person. Carry-out is available. Everyone is welcome.

O.R.N.A.I.C. meal and meeting

The Ohio River Native American Intertribal Community (ORNAIC) will be having their monthly meeting on Sunday at the Spencer County Extension office on Spears Drive. They have a fellowship meal and socializing from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. and start their meeting at 4 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.

Cool temperatures and abundant rainfall have created ideal conditions for forage producers to establish or thicken grass pastures and hayfields.

“The continuous rainfall this summer was very good for forage growth, and soil moisture levels are ideal across most of the state,” said Ray Smith, forage extension specialist in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.

The 105th Kentucky State Fair’s 4-H and FFA Sale of Champions concluded with $126,500 raised during the live auction, the second largest sum raised in its 30-year history. The annual sale brought in $127,250 in 2008, which was an all-time high for the event.

The Meats  and Agronomy CDE teams took top honors at the Kentucky State Fair and will advance to the National Competition in October. 

The meats team consisting of  Matthew Jeffiers, Danielle Montgomery, Stetson Baird, and Jacob Walker    placed first in their contest.  Matthew was high individual.

Members of the Agronomy team taking first place honors were   Joseph Snider, Amanda Martin, Tevin Shouse, and Holly Ware.   Joseph tied for high individual.
