Call Spencer Co. Preschool at 477-3210 for a brief prescreening interview if you have concerns that your child’s development may be delayed in the areas of hearing, vision, cognitive thinking skills, speech/language, self-help adaptive skills, socialization, and/or motor development. This screening is offered to Spencer County children 3 or 4 years of age. The screening will be held May 26-27 by appointment at Spencer County Preschool.

VFW Chili Cook-off

It’s time for another cili cook-off sponsored by the VFW Post 11426 and Ladies Auxiliary. The cook-off will be held Friday at 106 Washington Street from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The cook-off is open to the public so bring your chili to the Post by 5:30 p.m. for judging and then enjoy a bowl of chili for $3. MPCAA Senior Center Fundraiser Yard Sale

There’s plenty of talk these days about financial troubles.  Controversial solutions are being pushed, cutbacks are being made, and businesses are closing down.  Our nation, our state, and our local government are all seeking to expand care for those in need while at the same time cutting costs.  Even the Governor’s annual free Derby Day Breakfast included a price tag this year.

Dorothy Schultz, a junior at Spencer County High School, placed first in the historical paper category at the state National History Day Competition held at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort on Saturday, April 18.

Dorothy’s paper was entitled “Clausewitz’s Military Legacy”.  Dorothy will compete at the National Competition held at the University of Maryland in June.
