    Mrs. Baird’s class at Spencer County Elementary School had a welcome home party in honor of their class pet, Babbit the rabbit, after a brief stay at the vet’s office. Dr. Bennett was presented with a plaque thanking Elk Creek Animal Hospital for their outstanding community service.

  • FAITH FOR TODAY: If it’s not broken, don’t fix

    The title of this article is true…. sometimes…. but not all the time. For example, if you don’t have a head- ache and are feeling fine you probably wouldn’t take medicine for a headache or if your phone is working fine you wouldn’t take it to a repair shop. But there are some things in life that you would “repair” or do some regular maintenance or preventative maintenance on. For example, it is a good idea to change the oil and filter in your car regularly. It is a good idea to brush your teeth regularly.

  • Bullfrog Nursery to close doors after 15 years

    They may have smiles on their faces, but for longtime friends Kack Goodlett and Beverly Shelburne, that’s mostly out of habit.

    For the past decade and a half, the pair have acted more like sisters than boss and employee. They have spent many summer days tending to the plants at Bullfrog Nursery side-by-side – laughing through the sweat.

  • School news briefs

    Schools open March 13

    The Spencer County School Board voted at a recent meeting to hold classes Friday, March 13. The day was originally designated as a records day, meaning students were scheduled to have the day off. The school board’s decision to hold classes was an effort to make up one of several snow days missed this year.
