    The Spencer County Youth Service Center Drama Camp invites you to join them this Friday for “Storybook Theater.” This event will be catered toward elementary-aged students with segments from the children’s books “Where the Wild Things Are,” and “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” The drama camp performance will be held in the middle school auditorium beginning at 11 a.m. Admission to the event is free. The production will be directed by Kathy Fickel and Vickie Vincent.

  • The University of Kentucky Equine Initiative will hold an all-equine field day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27 on UK’s Maine Chance Equine Campus on Newtown Pike, just north of Interstate75. Admission is free, and lunch will be available for purchase from the Fayette County Cattlemen’s Association and the Fayette County 4-H and FFA Livestock Club.

    The field day is designed for horse owners, farm owners, farm managers and equine veterinarians. Participants are encouraged to come prepared with a long list of questions for the experts.

  • The Spencer County 4-H Livestock Club attended the Washington County Livestock Judging Contest with the following receiving awards: 

  • The Spencer County 4-H tractor contest was held on May 9 at the Spencer County Fairgrounds.  The Spencer County Youth Service Center provided breakfast for the group, which was greatly appreciated.  All participants took a knowledge skill test, inspected the tractors, and drove through an obstacle course, while using the safety procedures that they learned at the tractor safety S.O.S. class, taught by Adam Butler and Todd Bivens this past March. 

  • JDRF Yard sale

    The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be having a yard sale Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at 651 Foxmore Dr. in Hillsborough Estate. Proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Children’s clothing, toys, home furnishings, Little Tykes slide, and much more. Please attend and help raise money for a cure.

  • VBS at Spencer Christian Church

    Spencer Christian Church will be having V.B.S. “Crocodile Dock” Sunday, June 21 thru Friday, June 26 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for preschool, elementary, and teen students. Students will be provided a meal nightly. For more information, please call 502-477-9617.

    Mud bogg and tractor pull

    The Spencer County fairgrounds will be hosting a Mud Bogg at 7 p.m. Friday and the ORVTPA tractor pull at 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information please call 502-477-9992.

  • Members of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville are officially welcoming Rev. Gary Mills as the church’s new pastor Sunday following the 11 a.m. worship service.

    The event will include a potluck lunch and will give church and community members a chance to welcome Mills and his family.
