    Story time at the Library

  • With graduation from the University of Kentucky quickly approaching, I was faced with a decision. Should I hop right into the job market, or should I take some time to investigate other things that I had aspired to do? I chose to delay the job search and instead apply for an unpaid internship in Washington D.C. with U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie. I’m glad I did. The experience was outstanding.

  • More than 5,300 nationwide members, advisers, alumni, and guests of FCCLA; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, gathered in Nashville, Tennessee July 12-16 for the 2009 National Leadership Conference. Spencer County students Helisha Smith, Charlotte Arias, Samantha Barmore, Wes Dillingham, Tiffany Frost, and Jade Neal were among them.

  • Car wash/bake sale at Second

    Baptist Church

    The youth at Second Baptist Church will have a car wash/bake sale starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at County Mart.  Baked goods and food will also be available for purchase at the church located at 401 Jefferson Street.

  • The Spencer County Fair Market Lamb Show was held on Thursday, July 30that the Spencer County Fairgrounds.  Thanks to Darryl Matherly for serving as the judge for this show.

    In the Open Senior Showmanship Tyler Bitzer of Shelbyville won 1st place and Crystal Harris of Waddy was 2nd in the class.

    In Open Junior Showmanship Kolt Bitzer of Shelbyville won 1st place and Georgi Herndon of Mt. Eden was 2nd in the Class.

    The Novice Showmanship winner was Zach Herndon of Mt. Eden.

  • Spencer County Fair Hosts Open and 4-H/FFA Poultry Show

     The Spencer County Fair Open and Youth poultry show was held Tuesday , July 28th in the livestock show pavilion at the fairgrounds. This is the first year that a poultry show has been offered at the Spencer County Fair and many Spencer County 4-H and FFA members participated. There were a total of 114 entries (50 youth and 64 Open) in the show. The entry was much greater than expected by show coordinators.

  • Yard sale at All Saints

    The All Saints Church annual yard sale will be held Saturday  from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.  The sale will be held rain or shine, inside the parish hall.  All Saints is located in Taylorsville, at 410 Main Cross Street.
