Today's Features

  • The Spencer County 4-H tractor contest was held on May 9 at the Spencer County Fairgrounds.  The Spencer County Youth Service Center provided breakfast for the group, which was greatly appreciated.  All participants took a knowledge skill test, inspected the tractors, and drove through an obstacle course, while using the safety procedures that they learned at the tractor safety S.O.S. class, taught by Adam Butler and Todd Bivens this past March. 

  • JDRF Yard sale

    The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be having a yard sale Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at 651 Foxmore Dr. in Hillsborough Estate. Proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Children’s clothing, toys, home furnishings, Little Tykes slide, and much more. Please attend and help raise money for a cure.

  • As we look at our leaders today even though they are for killing thousands of babies each year before they are brought into the world and as we look at the Word of God they are definitely created by God. Regardless of who their daddy is, their Father is still God.

  • VBS at Spencer Christian Church

    Spencer Christian Church will be having V.B.S. “Crocodile Dock” Sunday, June 21 thru Friday, June 26 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for preschool, elementary, and teen students. Students will be provided a meal nightly. For more information, please call 502-477-9617.

    Taylorsville VFW Post #11426 and the Ladies Auxiliary have their monthly meeting tomorrow at 7 p.m.

    Mud bogg and tractor pull

    The Spencer County fairgrounds will be hosting a Mud Bogg at 7 p.m. Friday and the ORVTPA tractor pull at 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information please call 502-477-9992.

  • Members of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville are officially welcoming Rev. Gary Mills as the church’s new pastor Sunday following the 11 a.m. worship service.

    The event will include a potluck lunch and will give church and community members a chance to welcome Mills and his family.

  • VBS at Briar Ridge Christian

    Briar Ridge Christian Church will be having Vacation Bible School for children of all ages June 15 – 19 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Snacks will be served.

  • Did you know that more people believe in heaven than hell? Even if they do not believe in the actual existence of the place, almost everyone has their own concept. Some people believe it’s where all the “cool people” go, and that only fuddy-duddies go to heaven. They laugh and joke about the wild parties that take place, and that the “real” party won’t start until once they arrive. Others believe we are living in hell now and that our only escape is by death into heaven.

  • Here is the stimulas package America needs to come up with. It is very simple.

    Just look at 2 Chronicles 7:14:

    If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  • This is the third year for the Jewish Hospital-Shelbyville Auxiliary’s Body Mind & Spirit Awards.  The Auxiliary created these awards to honor women in our community – not with a focus on business or industry, but to recognize the contributions of women who serve as examples to the rest of us for their stewardship of home, health or spiritual matters.
