Sheriff Buddy Stump has now closed his office to the public because of the potential mold issue inside his office. On Monday, signs were posted on the front door, which remained locked, instructing the public to go to the window of the mobile command center that’s been parked next to the sheriff’s office for several weeks.
Stump sues fiscal court

Spencer County Sheriff Buddy Stump filed a lawsuit last week against the Spencer County Fiscal Court and its individual members after the court had been unable to agree on where to relocate his office in the midst of an apparent mold outbreak.

The suit, filed in Spencer Circuit Court last Friday, lays out the timeline of mold-related events dating back to July 11, up until October 7, when Spencer County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Brummer became ill and was hospitalized for five days after he’d spent time in the building’s booking area.
