  • King visits with high school class, gets student feedback

    Annette King, executive director with the Taylorsville Spencer County Economic Development Authority, Inc., had an opportunity recently to speak with a group of students at Spencer County High School who are enrolled in a leadership class.

    This is a new course devoted to uniting school and community through student participation, volunteer services and sharing of ideas for the community. It was evident by the open dialogue that the students want to support and be a part of their community.

  • Local business owner named Healthy Hero for december

    Why is David Young a Healthy Hero?

    David, who is pictured with Geri Travis, owns and operates The Tea Cup. He has spent his life eating healthy and using a technique called juicing. He is also an advocate for healthy supplements. David participated in the Spencer County Biggest Loser Program and also prepared a healthy Biggest Loser breakfast and lunch for other participants to purchase at the Tea Cup. After work every day he walks 3 miles.

  • Police working burglary at K&M Small Engines, information wanted

    Taylorsville Police are investigating a burglary reported Wednesday morning at K&M Small Engines on Railroad Street.

    Four 4-wheelers and an undetermined amount of go-carts have been stolen.

    Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call 502-477-3231 or 502-477-5533.

    If information provided leads to an arrest, a cash reward will be given.

  • Mt. Eden man hurt in ATV wreck

    A Spencer County resident was injured when he overturned his four-wheeler Monday afternoon in the vicinity of his home near Mount Eden.

    Officials at Spencer County dispatch said Dewey Case of 185 Murphy Lane was transported to Baptist East Hospital in Louisville and was being treated for a laceration on his head. The injury was not presumed to be life-threatening, an official said.

    The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. and clogged roads in the area.

    BBB is warning consumers to closely check their credit card statements for mysterious charges cropping up by the thousands across the country.

    Upset online shoppers have contacted BBB about unwanted credit card charges that are being traced back to Connecticut-based Affinion Group, an affinity-marketing company that recently changed its name from Trilegiant.
