  • National Day of Prayer event set for May 2

    Tens of thousands of prayer events are planned across the country on Thursday, May 2, to honor the annual National Day of Prayer. In churches, parks and on courthouse steps, citizens will pray for our nation, government leaders, media, military, schools, churches, businesses and families.
    Spencer County will honor the National Day of Prayer on the courthouse steps in Taylorsville from noon to 1 p.m.  Many government leaders will participate in the program as well as several Spencer County pastors, according to a news release.

  • What's Happening — Week of April 17

    Tea Party to meet Thursday
    The Spencer County Tea Party will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kentucky Farm Bureau building, 695 Taylorsville Road.
    The speaker will be David Adams, former campaign manager for Sen. Rand Paul.  Adams has recently filed a lawsuit to halt the implementation of “Obamacare” in Kentucky. For more information on the Tea Party, call Carol at 502-618-1940 or Rick at 502-641-2346.

    Spencer County High School Spanish I students in Miss Reno and Mrs. Dunaway’s classes traveled to Fiesta Brava for lunch on March 28. The students were finishing up a unit on restaurants and were able to use their newly learned vocabulary with the staff at Fiesta Brava.

  • What's Happening — Week of April 10

    Dancing with the Stars is Friday
    The Spencer County High School Dance Team and FFA are again teaming up for Dancing with the Stars this Friday at 6 p.m.
    Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. To order tickets, contact Misty Jewell at misty.jewell@spencer.kyschools.us or 502-645-7645.
    Proceeds will benefit the FFA and the dance team.

    Fish and Game Club to host safety day, open house
    The Spencer County Fish and Game Club will host a community safety day and open house on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Clerk’s Office celebrates Donate Life Month in April

    April is Donate Life Month, and the Spencer County Circuit Clerk’s Office is spreading the word.
    “This April, and every day, I am proud of the impact this office has on the lives of others, especially those in need of life-saving organ transplants. I am humbled at the generosity of our community,” says Circuit Clerk Becky Robinson. “Even through tough economic times, our community is committed to helping others.”

  • Spencer area girls invited to Girl Scout Camp

    As the weather warms, this is the perfect time to think about the time-honored tradition of summer camp. From swimming and hiking, to singing songs around a campfire and newer challenges including a high ropes course, camp is the place to make memories that last a lifetime.
    Girls in grades one through 12 from the Spencer County area can build these kinds of memories this summer.  Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana will be holding summer camps at two locations on multiple dates from June through July.
