    • 101 Baby-Sitting.  Learn the basics of baby-sitting on April 16 from 6-8 p.m.
    • A representative from the Office of the Attorney General will show you how to protect yourself from identity theft on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. Learn how not to get scammed.

    Candidates needed for levee commissioners
    An election will be held in the first week in April for commissioners of the levee district in Taylorsville. Candidates must own property within the levee district. Anyone interested in being a candidate can contact Deputy Judge Karen Curtsinger at 477-3206.

    Mayor Don Pay and Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis pose for a picture during last Tuesday’s City Commission meeting. At the meeting, Pay presented Lewis with  a proclamation specifically honoring him and participants of the Shelby County Detention Center’s Class D felon program for the work completed around Taylorsville over the past few months.

  • Volunteers needed to assist children in foster care in 13 area counties

    Citizen Foster Care Review Boards that serve Anderson, Bullitt, Franklin, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, Nelson, Oldham, Owen, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Woodford counties are seeking volunteers to make a difference in the lives of local children in foster care.
    Volunteers are needed to review cases of children placed in foster care because of dependency, neglect and abuse to ensure these children are placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Volunteers are not required to reside in the county where a board meets.

    The Love My Neighbor community mission store is extending its hours to Mondays. The store will now be open Monday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

    Finchville Ruritan plans fish fries
    The Finchville Ruritan Club will be have a fish fry on the following dates: this Friday and March 15 and 22. The time will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Finchville Community Center on Ky. 55, four miles south of the I-64 Taylorsville exit.

  • PHOTOS: Team Ice Socks takes the ‘plunge’ for Special Olympics

    Eighty-seven members of Team Ice Socks, including seven Spencer Countians, participating in the 15th annual Louisville Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Kentucky. Team Captain Russell Miller lives in Spencer County and organizes the team each year. Team Ice Socks raised over $65,000 of the total $300,000 raised at this year’s event, landing them the Top Fund Raising Team and largest corporate/Civic Group Award.
