  • ‘Paint the Town Purple’ Relay event this Friday, Saturday

    Show your hope by “Painting the Town Purple” on Friday and Saturday.
    Spencer County Relay for Life is planning its annual “Paint the Town Purple” Weekend, an awareness event to prepare the town and community for the upcoming American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life- Spencer County celebration.
    The local Relay event will be be held on June 10 at Spencer County High School.

  • TES Spring Fling Friday

    Taylorsville Elementary School is hosting “Spring Fling 2011” on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the school.
    A pork barbeque dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m.
    For $7, guests will get a pulled pork barbeque sandwich or two hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, dessert and a drink.
    For $5, guests will get a pulled pork barbeque sandwich or two hot dogs, chips, a cookie and a drink.
    Barbeque will be provided by Barrel Smoked BBQ.

  • Guthrie field rep. to visit Spencer County

    Steve Miller, field representative for Congressman Brett Guthrie, will hold office hours in Spencer County on Monday at the judge-executive’s office at 12 W. Main Street. The hours will be from 1–2 p.m.
    Individuals from the area are encouraged to meet with Miller, who will be available to answer any questions and address concerns regarding current issues or problems with federal agencies. 
    He will forward all comments to the congressman, according to a news release.

  • Little Union Baptist celebrates 200 years of faith

     The congregation of Little Union Baptist Church celebrated 200 years of faith and history last Wednesday.

    The church is led by pastor Will Sykes, who said Little Union is a testament to God’s goodness.

    “This church has a great heritage,” Sykes said. “There are so many people that this church has touched.”
