  • ENGAGEMENT: Thomas, Slucher to wed

    Brittany Thomas and Joseph Slucher announce their upcoming marriage this fall. The bride-to-be is a daughter of Keith and Sharon Thomas of Taylorsville.
    She is a 2008 graduate of Spencer County High School and is currently employed as a nurse at Signature Healthcare. The groom-to-be is a son of Darris and Terri Slucher of Taylorsville.  He is a 2004 graduate of Spencer County High School and is currently employed with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
    The couple will reside in Taylorsville.

  • Library hosts September events for the whole family

    Pre School and Elementary
    Like dogs or working on reading skills?  Come read with WAGS Saturday at 10:30 a.m.  Read to the dogs, they are patient and love to hear a good story.  Gain confidence and find out how fun it can be to read.  It’s a treat just to meet these gentle dogs.  Sophie, a Great Pyrenees and her friends will be out the second Saturday of the month, come read to her.

  • State police to host checkpoints locally

    Kentucky State Police Post 12, which provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties, will conduct periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual, according to a news release.
    There will also be special traffic enforcement in high collision areas using radar, laser and saturation patrols.

    Droves of Spencer County Elementary students flocked to the school’s newest playground Monday, which was fashioned especially for children in grades kindergarten through third grade.  The equipment was officially available for use Monday.

  • Library to offer variety of fall programs for all ages

    The Spencer County Public Library has something for everyone. Check out some of the activities that are currently going on at the library:
    • Story Time is a great way to expose your child to reading and letter recognition.  There are crafts to encourage small motor skills and lots of physical play to get moving.  Join us every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. when school is in session for toddlers through first grade story time.  We welcome all ages to join in the fun of reading and learning on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m.

  • Lilly Pike to temporarily close Saturday

    Lilly Pike/Ky. 623 will be temporarily closed on Saturday from 8 a.m. until midnight, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 5 Office announced in a news release.
    The road will be closed between mile points 3 and 4 during that time for cross drain repairs, the news release said.
