  • State police announce traffic safety checkpoints

    Kentucky State Police Post 12, which provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. There will also be special traffic enforcement in high collision areas using radar, laser and saturation patrols.

  • Jefferson Co. man accused of sexually abusing local minor

    A 22-year-old Louisville man was arrested last week and will face a Spencer County Grand Jury for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl at a Spencer County residence in February.

    The Spencer County FFA and Spencer County High School dance team again attracted a packed crowd to the joint fundraising effort known as SCHS Dancing with the Stars last Thursday evening. Pictured are Bill Dunning and Natalie Hall, who earned perfect scores on their dance routines and were forced to participate in a dance off.   • A bunch of bologna?

    Taylorsville and Spencer County have been abuzz with the possibility of a meat packing plant moving its operation into the community. However, the Taylorsville City Commission took action last Tuesday to prevent it from coming into city limits, and Judge-Executive Bill Karrer said he has had no discussions with a company of that type.

  • Sheriff’s office now has 24-hour coverage

    The Spencer County Sheriff’s Department now offers full-time coverage — that’s 24 hours, seven days a week.
    Sheriff Donald “Buddy” Stump said his office has been operating 24/7 since Jan. 25.
    What that means is, an officer is on duty 24 hours a day instead of just being on call 24 hours a day, Stump said at his office Monday morning.
    “Twenty-four-seven, we have someone patrolling, making traffic stops, enforcing the laws and responding to 911 calls,” he said.

    Within the next couple of months, citizens will notice the streetscape from Main Cross to Jefferson Street getting a familiar update.

  • SCHS to host ‘Dancing with the Stars’

    The Spencer County High School FFA Chapter and Dance Team are once again teaming up to produce a rendition of the popular television show “Dancing with the Stars” at the high school Thursday night. The event will start at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. The entertaining lineup will include staff and friends of the school system, as well as public officials. The participants will be paired with members of the dance team and will be competing for the award of Spencer County’s best dancer.
