  • Bennett murder trial set


    A trial date has been set for the Taylorsville woman accused of gunning down her husband on Easter Day.

    Kandy Bennett is scheduled to face a jury trial on charges of murder, 1st degree possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia on February 12, 2018.

    Bennett, 41, is accused of murdering Mark Bennett, 51, on April 16 at their home in Cottonwood Estates.

    In a state where basketball and football championships are celebrated across the news media, a very different team at Spencer County High School in Taylorsville deserves far more attention than it has received.

  • New TES is top of the line


    At one time, there was a stigma attached to attending Taylorsville Elementary School. It was known as the old school, the lesser school, or the inferior school. Some of those labels were unfair, but the stigma was real. Today, that stigma has been destroyed.

    Come next week when students in Spencer County return to class, TES will be a showcase facility for the entire district.

    TES Principal Steven Rucker said it’s well-deserved for the students and staff and comes at a time when the school has turned the corner academically.
