  • ON HOLD: Developers postpone pipeline deadline to '16

    Developers’ plans to complete the Bluegrass Pipeline have been postponed.
    The same day the Kentucky House of Representatives held its first hearing on legislation that would prohibit builders of natural-gas liquids pipelines from acquiring easements through condemnation – and Gov. Steve Beshear said he favors such limits – the Tulsa, Okla., energy company Williams announced it has delayed its deadline for finishing the project from late 2015 to mid- to late-2016.

  • AG rules in county clerk's favor

    Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t.
    That is the case for Taylorsville resident Lawrence Trageser in recent decisions handed down by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
    Trageser filed three complaints in November and December with the AG’s office claiming violations by the Spencer County Board of Elections: two complaints alleged violations of the state’s Open Meetings Act, the other of the state’s Open Records Act.

  • Black ice proves to be double trouble for county road department

    The Spencer County Road Department had a less-than-stellar day last Tuesday when black ice caused not one, but two accidents involving county vehicles in the same location on John Henry Road.
    Spencer County Sheriff Donald “Buddy” Stump said black ice caused numerous accidents around the county that morning. One of those early morning incidents involved a county dump truck that tipped over while spreading cinders on John Henry Road. The driver fell victim to the same conditions he was attempting to improve for other motorists.

  • Local elementaries host second registration week

    Spencer County Elementary and Taylorsville Elementary will host another Kindergarten registration week March 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
     Children who will be five years old by October 1, 2013 and are not currently enrolled in Spencer County Preschool should register.
     To be fully enrolled the following must be on file:
    • Proof of residency
    • A copy of the original birth certificate (not a hospital certificate)
    • A copy of the student’s Social Security card
    • Current immunization certificate

  • Taylorsville racer to be honored at banquet

    Taylorsville’s Derek Bottoms will be recognized as one of the top 2013 Ponderosa Speedway racers at the 2013 Celebration of Champions March 9.
    The former Ponderosa Speedway track promotion trio of Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will honor the top drivers from the 2013 racing season with the track’s Celebration of Champions night.

  • PUBLIC RECORD: Feb. 7, 21 District Court

    Judge Linda Armstrong heard the following cases in Spencer District Court Feb. 7, 2014:

    Traffic:
    Pamela R. Mulcahy (1969), speeding 26 miles or greater over the legal limit, guilty, $60 fine and $143 court costs paid.

    Alisha N. Jackson (1982), one headlight, guilty, $25 fine and $143 court costs; operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, guilty, $20 fine; convert both charges to four days credit for time served.
