    First Christian to host family fun night

    First Christian Church in Taylorsville will host a family fun night Nov. 5.

    Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for youth and children.

    The meal includes a porkchop sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, desert and a drink. Bingo will also be played.

    The community is invited to attend.

    Clerk’s office announces upcoming closings

    The Spencer County Clerk’s Office will be closed on the following days:

    • Nov. 2 for Election Day. Only election-related business will be conducted that day. Regular business hours will resume Nov. 3 at 8 a.m.

    • Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and Nov. 12 due to office renovations. The office will reopen for regular business Nov. 15 at 8 a.m.

    Little Union to host Truck ‘n Treat

    Little Union Baptist Church will be having Trunk ‘n Treat Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be given for the best decorated trunk and for the best costume in each age category.

    Chili/soup and hot dogs will also be available.

    Harvest Hallelujah night

    Open Door Christian Center at 2345 Taylorsville Road in Bloomfield is hosting a Harvest Hallelujah night on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in the church’s gymnasium.

    The youth will be selling food and drinks.

    Spencer County students could be graduating from high school a bit more prepared thanks to a AmeriCorps grant received by the Kentucky Campus Compact organization that will benefit dozens of school districts in the state including Spencer County.

  • Mixed predictions on Tuesday's voter turnout

    As the competition surrounding this year’s heated election reaches a fever pitch, it’s hard to tell if voters will actually exercise their rights Nov. 2 and make an appearance at the polls.

    Although the election season in Spencer County and across the nation has been very active with political candidates sounding off on all sorts of issues, Spencer County Clerk Judy Puckett isn’t sure that voters will be knocking down the doors of the polling places on election day.

  • Audit questions clerk's expenditures

    A state audit reveals the Spencer County Clerk’s office inappropriately spent $210 last year on Sam’s Club memberships for at least six office employees.

    Itemized receipts and spending statements relating to the County Clerk’s purchases could not be obtained by the Spencer Magnet as early as today, after the newspaper filed an open records request to view those records.

    4-H Shooting Sports and Teen Council to host Haunted trail

    The 4-H Shooting Sports and Teen Council is sponsoring a Haunted Trail on Oct. 29 at The Fish and Game Club.
