  • Accident shuts down KY 55 for hours Friday

     

  • Accident closes Ky 55

    Two semi trucks have collided at the intersection of KY 55 and Van Dyke Road. Officials are directing motorists to avoid the area as the road is closed from the intersection of Yoder Tipton Rd. and Ky 55 north to the Ky 55/155 intersection. Portions of Ky 1633 are also closed to motorists near the scene.

    Officials say that Ky 55 between Yoder Tipton Rd. and Ky 155 will be closed for the next 2-3 hours.

  • Candidate filing deadline is Jan. 27

    Persons interested in being a candidate in the 2015 Primary Election should know that the deadline to file with the secretary of state’s office is later this month.
    Candidates who wish to be placed on the ballot for the May 19 Primary Election must file their candidacy papers by 4 p.m. EST at the Office of Secretary of State on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
    The offices of governor and lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, auditor of public accounts, state treasurer and commissioner of agriculture are on the ballot in Kentucky in 2015.

    Legislative Coffee with Senator Jimmy Higdon
    Senator Jimmy Higdon will be holding a legislative coffee on Monday, January 12, at 7:30 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building in Taylorsville. Senator Higdon will be there to share information and to answer questions. He will also be joined by newly elected State Representative, James A. Tipton. The event is free to the public and all are invited to attend.

  • Mt. Eden Fire Board accepts bid proposal for new station

    The Mt. Eden Volunteer Fire Department’s Board of Trustees took a huge step in rebuilding their burned fire station by approving the bid of Walters Buildings Monday evening.
    Walters Buildings, which was the lowest bidder on the project, bid $215,982 to build the new fire station pursuant to specifications provided by Walters. The bid carries with it an anticipated start date of 30 days, with completion expected to follow in 90 days.
    The board was unanimous in its approval of the Walters bid which was the lowest of six bids presented for the project.
