    Have you noticed how many people seem to have a never-ending supply of words, often spoken rapidly, even at warp speed, trying to say as many words as possible in the shortest length of time.
    Well, maybe if you are one of those, it would be helpful to give your listener a chance to respond to your long presentation. While there are many like I just described, there are also many who have so few words, that some elaboration is needed. One or two words is not enough.

    Finchville Baptist Church will host vacation Bible school June 2-6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day.
    The theme is “Kingdom Rock.”

    First Baptist announces VBS
    Vacation Bible school at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville will be June 3-7 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The church is located at 115 W. Main St.
    Children from age 2 to new seventh-graders are invited to join to learn about “Facing fear, trusting God at Colossal Coaster World.”

    Roy and Lucille Burkhead will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 1, with friends and family in Richmond. The celebration will be  at 5 p.m. at Abundant Life Ministries Church, 1709 Irvine Road. The event is hosted by their children and grandchildren.
    The couple requests no gifts.

  • Bears to play for 8th Region crown Thursday

    The Spencer County Bears advanced to the finals of the 8th Region Baseball Tournament with a 6-2 victory over two-time defending champions North Oldham Tuesday night in Crestwood. The Bears will take on district rival Collins on Thursday night for the right to advance to Lexington for the state tournament beginning next week.
    A large and vocal contingent of Spencer County fans packed the home side of the field Tuesday and watched as senior pitcher Lance Shelton pitched out of several jams, often using his best pitches to thwart a Mustang rally.

  • Bears move on to semi-finals of 8th Region Tourney

    The Spencer County Bears advanced to the semi-finals of the 8th Region Baseball Tournament Monday afternoon after scoring an 11-4 victory over Owen County at South Oldham High School in Crestwood.
