  • Commissioners call for meeting on drainage study

    Together, the City of Taylorsville and Spencer County Fiscal Court have paid an engineering firm $44,647.62 to conduct a drainage study on Houston Court, but a couple of city commissioners believe they have little to nothing to show for their money.
    Commissioner Ellen Redmon, who lives on Houston Court, asked for a status report on the project during last Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting.

  • Ice, snow cause several accidents, but few injuries

    The accumulation of snow and ice over the weekend and briefly on Tuesday morning made way for dangerous travel conditions in Taylorsville and Spencer County. However, despite numerous accidents, no serious injuries were reported, but two patients were transported to a nearby hospital by Spencer County EMS.

    The injury accident occurred on Townhill Road on Friday after a band of sleet and ice made its way into the area, said Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis.

    The Spencer County Lady Bears picked up their first win of the season last Tuesday night against Whitefield Academy, scoring a 54-35 victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

    Just a week from today and it is Christmas.  I love Christmas, I love the lights, I love the snow, when we get it. I love the trees and the decorations.  I love the cards and letters. I love sharing gifts with friends and family, although I admit the shopping part is not my favorite thing.
    Some of you probably started watching Christmas movies on TV right after Halloween. Some of us love the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, or even the Grinch.  Some of us love baking and cooking, some of us just love the eating part.
