    March 27, 2014: Glenn Harpool and Terri Harpool, Inglenook Drive, Taylorsville, to Kenny L. Harryman and Jeffery D. Harryman, Inglenook Drive, Taylorsville, lot 65A of Early Wyne Planation, as shown in plat cabinet 3, slide 390 in the Spencer County Clerk’s office, $283,000.

  • Man indicted for attempt to murder jailer

    The man facing charges for attempting to take Spencer County Jailer Darrell Herndon’s life and the life of a good samaritan has been indicted in Nelson County Circuit court and will be arraigned Thursday.
    James W. Gillespie, 18, of Mount Eden, was indicted on two counts of attempted murder, third-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, disarming a police officer, first-degree escape, theft by unlawful taking-firearm, two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening and two counts of menacing.

  • Gospel sing fundraiser May 31 at First Baptist

    There will be a gospel sing fundraiser Saturday, May 31 at First Baptist Church Taylorsville featuring Victory Road Quartet, formerly known as the Gloryland Quartet and The Waldridge Family. Victory Road features David Stevens, Tim Edwards, David Jones, Larry Dennison, Jerry Franklin and Carrol Ingram. The Waldridge Family features Leon Waldridge, Brent Waldridge and Wanda Waldridge.

  • Bears pick up 2 wins

     

    Spencer County’s Weston Pittman takes a big hack but pulled the ball foul in a recent game for the Bears. The boys finished their regular season last week on a positive note with two wins. Following a 7-1 loss to North Oldham, they took a 5-2 victory over Kentucky Country Day and then scored an 8-3 win over Trimble County on Friday. The Bears were to open postseason play on Monday against 8th Region favorite Collins at Anderson County. The Bears finished the regular season with a 9-20 record.

  • Lady Bears finish regular season with win

     

    Spencer County’s Kendall Horn crosses the plate for a run in a recent home game for the Lady Bears. The girls wrapped up their regular season with a 10-4 victory over Bardstown on Friday. They suffered a 14-1 loss to Shelby County earlier in the week and finished with a 9-16 regular season record. They are scheduled to open postseason play on Wednesday against Anderson County at Collins, beginning at 6 p.m.
