  • Audit: Clerk owes county $64K

    Spencer County Clerk Judy Puckett must pay back $64,717 for undeposited receipts, disallowed expenditures and personal non-sufficient fund checks, according to the 2010 audit report released by Crit Luallen, Kentucky’s auditor of public accounts, last week.

    State law requires the auditor to conduct annual audits of county clerks and sheriffs.

    An audit of Spencer County Clerk Judy Puckett's office identifies $64,717 that Puckett must personally pay back for undeposited receipts, disallowed expenditures and personal non-sufficient fund checks.

    Crit Luallen, Kentucky's auditor of public accounts, released the report Thursday morning for the year ending Dec. 31, 2010.

    State law requires the auditor to conduct annual audits of county clerks and sheriffs.

This week, the Bears were scheduled to travel to John Hardin on Tuesday, will host Iroquois on Wednesday, will welcome in Whitfield Academy on Saturday and will host North Oldham on Monday.

  • COLUMN: Could conference re-alignments doom Kentucky football?

    Money continues to dominate and dictate the changes in college athletics. Just this weekend, it was reported that both Syracuse and Pittsburgh will be leaving the Big East Conference to join the Atlantic Coast Conference and there are at least a dozen other schools around the nation mulling similar changes.
    Chances are, conferences as we know them today will look vastly different next year, and there’s even more talk about forming four 16-team super conferences for football that would comprise the top 64 teams in the nation.
