  • LETTER: Vote Kent Stevens

  • LETTER: My plan?

I, John Shircliffe, ex-Main Street volunteer, had no authority to take or demand from property owners and any implication otherwise misrepresents me, my role and that of the Main Street Program. Period.

  • LETTER: A take on the commissioner’s forum

First, allow me to say that I appreciate The Spencer Magnet for allowing readers to express their opinions through this column. I understand that others may not share our views, but these letters to the editor are often very thought-provoking and sometimes inspirational. They help us to be a better Taylorsville by keeping us informed. I hope others will keep the letters coming.

  • LETTER: Adkins is choice for Congress

Bill Adkins, who is running in the 4th Congressional District, believes the middle class has long been under assault by special interests.  Middle class citizens do not have paid lobbyists protecting them — billion dollar corporations do.  Without a strong middle class, the nation cannot survive. Adkins will work for solutions to help defend and rebuild the middle class.

  • LETTER: Hornback endorses Hesselbrock

November 6th is approaching and there is one clear choice for County Clerk. Lynn Hesselbrock has restored credibility to the office and made it a pleasurable experience to visit. The clerk’s office is in charge of all elections and we must have a person who will make the office accountable and transparent so as to better serve the public. Hesselbrock is that person and I would encourage your support for her on Nov. 6.

  • LETTER: Thanks for support at SCES

I would personally like to thank the residents of Spencer County who participated in purchasing books on conference night at Spencer County Elementary School.
You have done your school a great service by allowing Mrs. Murphy to purchase more books for the library.
All proceeds from this book sale stayed here at SCES.
For the people who ordered books I want to thank you for your patience and understanding. Those books are here and will be delivered after fall break.

  • LETTER: Doing the right thing? Or not?

Numerous people have asked what happened at the Sanctuary Center and why people are so angry at “the city.”
In a nutshell and in my case, the city poured concrete over my access at 95 E. Main St., The Sanctuary Arts Center, home of characters, storytellers, music makers and artists.

  • LETTER: Vote Heaton in 50th District

During the November election, we are going to be casting our vote for state representative to represent the 50th District in Frankfort and I strongly believe our choice should be Dick Heaton. I have had the privilege to work with Dick Heaton when he was a Bardstown City Councilman and Bardstown Mayor and I have watched him be a great advocate for our county.

  • LETTER: Hesselbrock is a clear choice

I am writing in response to the letter from Paul David Jewell about the county clerk. In my opinion the clerk’s office has changed dramatically from a place that you hated to walk into to a place that is comfortable and welcoming when you walk in. There is now a genuine smile when you walk into the office not a look of distaste because you have bothered someone to do their job.
